At Portimão Surf Clube, our mission is to provide top-quality surf education, guided by our founder and national champion, Francisco Canelas. Over the past years, our athletes have achieved regional, national, and international success, proving that our methodology works.
Join us for surf, skate or bodyboard lessons in Portimão and Costa Vicentina, especially during the summer!
The PTMSC Bodyboard Academy is led by two passionate bodyboarders. Filipe Costa, a champion athlete and physiotherapist at FisioRider, combines functional training for board riders with specialized physiotherapy treatments. Alongside him is Sandro Nóbrega, with more than 20 years of experience in bodyboarding and co-organizer of the legendary Vau BB Vau Challenge. Both are honorary members of PTMSC and have been key to the growth of bodyboarding in our region.
Our main mission is to promote and develop skateboarding through both training and competition. We offer regular classes for athletes from the age of five, providing a structured and motivating environment for young skaters. Emanuel Silva is now the primary coach guiding the new generation, helping them build skills and confidence on the board.

William has just finished a week of private lessons with Alexandre, and we honestly couldn’t have asked for a better instructor. Our 10-year-old can be a little challenging at times, but Alexandre was calm, patient and encouraging throughout every session. His knowledge, experience and incredible ability to work with children meant he was constantly adapting each lesson to suit William’s ability, and, just as importantly, his mood that day! The progress William made over the week was fantastic, but more importantly, he came away with a genuine love for surfing. That is entirely down to Alexandre’s coaching style and the welcoming atmosphere at Portimão Surf Clube. We genuinely feel we’ve found William’s surf school here in Portugal and will be working with Portimão Surf Clube for many years to come. My family had 2 surfing lessons with Alexandre. He is such an amazing instructor. He is warm, patient and passionate. He stayed in the waves with my kids the whoke time. Helping them get on boards and kept eeminding them the tips.My kids loved the time with him. We had such a great experience. We will come back to him taking more lessons again soon.

Learning to surf with Alexandre is a wonderful, life changing experience! He’s bursting with joyful energy and inspires self-confidence as he teaches a love for life as well as for surfing. My 11 year old niece will always remember her first surf experience as the highlight of her Portugal experience. She rode at least 10 waves to the beach and was able to jump around on the board, switching from regular to goofy foot near the end. Every one of the students in her small group was successfully surfing after an hour. Great facility and gear, but the best part of this adventure is the truly gifted, inspirational instructor, Alexandre!
We have just had a wonderful surf class with Alexandre. He is a really passionate and great teacher and with his help we managed to catch many nice waves. We can definitely recommend!

AMAZING EXPERIENCE!!! We were a group of 5 people with all different levels of experience. Two of us rented while the other three had a group lesson with Alexandre. He was literally amazing with us, very professional and helpful throughout the whole lesson, always giving us the perfect advice while cheering us up when our surfing performance wasn’t the best. We will come back tomorrow as this place has become for sure the place to be during our Portuguese holiday in Algarve!! Make sure it becomes the same for you!
